How the league works
The season
- Registration opens at 9 AM (ET) and closes at 9 PM (ET) five days later. Connect the wallet that holds your Donkeys, Mega Donkeys and Chic Cheetahs to register your team, fill your lineup and name a Head Coach.
- Regular season starts the next morning. Every team plays one game a day against a different opponent, up to 20 games. If the number of teams is odd, each team sits out one day.
- Playoffs follow the last day: the top four teams play best-of-3 semifinals, then a best-of-3 championship.
- Cooldown of five days for updates, then the next season opens for registration.
Seasons are numbered like Super Bowls: Season I, Season II and so on.
A game
Each team gets 10 possessions, and each one ends in a touchdown (7 points), a field goal (3) or no points. Better players score more often, and rarer NFTs carry a small bonus.
If a game is tied after 10 possessions each, every team gets one more. A regular-season game that is still tied counts as half a win for both teams. In the playoffs the extra possessions continue until one team is ahead.
The best plays of every game are replayed on its game page.
Your team
Your lineup has 10 slots. Fill them with the Donkeys and Mega Donkeys you hold, Rookies you recruit with DDAO, or free agents. A Chic Cheetah can be used as your Head Coach, which will give your team a Playbook bonus.
If you sell a Donkey, a free agent takes the spot. Players can get hurt during a game, which lowers a stat until they recover. Injured players keep playing at reduced strength, or you can replace them to recover twice as fast.
Standings and the playoffs
Teams are ranked by win percentage, then point differential, then points scored. If they are still tied, a coin flip decides.
The top four teams make the playoffs: seed 1 plays seed 4 and seed 2 plays seed 3. The higher seed hosts games 1 and 3 of each series.
Prizes
1st place wins 200 ALGO, 2nd place 125 ALGO and 3rd place 75 ALGO. Second is the other finalist, and third is the semifinal loser with the better regular-season record.
When a winner connects their wallet, a pop-up lets them claim. The prize is paid to the wallet that owns the winning team.
Why you can trust the results
Every game’s randomness comes from Algorand’s randomness beacon. The rosters are locked first, then the league commits to a beacon round that does not exist yet, so nobody, including the league, can know or choose the outcome beforehand. The game is then played from that round’s output.
After the game, its result is recorded on the Algorand chain, so it can’t be changed later. Each game page shows the beacon round, links to the chain record, and re-plays the game from its stored inputs to check the score.
Your responsibility
Players are responsible for following the laws and crypto regulations where they live. The league does not verify location.
